Well, we always have green in mind, using recycled gold, restoring antiques to extend their useful lives, and re fashioning old pieces, but over the holiday break, we also got a bit of a facelift, in the form of new carpeting, in a lovely shade of deep soft green! Come visit and tell us what you think!
1) Multiple instances of dads coming in with kids to help pick out gifts for moms. Input ranging from “that necklace is as pretty as mommy” from a 6 year old to “Mom would want a bigger one” from a 14 year old.
2) Re creating L’s mother’s wedding set from the only surviving part – the damaged head and diamond. Working with only her memories and a few remaining clues, we were able to rebuild the long lost rings for her.
3) Our favorite – an “in house” proposal! R and B had chosen a ring together, and were in to make their final lay away payment. When we asked B why she wasn’t putting the ring on, she answered “because he hasn’t actually proposed yet”. R got down on one knee and said “in front of these two lovely ladies… and this dog – You are the girl of my dreams, will you be my wife?”
Really, we love working here. Thanks to all our clients for another great year of letting us be part of your jewelry stories
How did it get to be December so quickly? Figure out which body part could use a little extra decoration this holiday season, and come let us help you find just the right bauble for the job.
From now till Christmas, Maloy’s will be open EVERY DAY! yup, Sundays too.
Our holiday hours are:
10 to 5:30 Monday thru Friday
Saturdays AND the next two Sundays 11 to 5
After all that festivity, we will be closed the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, so be sure to get your decorating done on time!
V. was checking out our website even before R proposed. She noticed our “English Buttercup” ring and immediately fell in love with it. Her hunch about R’s intentions was spot on, and within a short time, R asked for her hand while they were on a motorcycle trip together. V was overjoyed and mentioned that buttercup might be “the” ring, but before they could come into the shop, their priorities shifted. R was in a motorcycle accident. All time, energy and finances were redirected towards healing. Several months passed. Without telling each other, they would each periodically check our website in secret to see if “buttercup” had sold, and were relieved each time to learn that she seemed to be waiting here for them. R is now sufficiently recovered (and sporting a cool mermaid handled walking stick). Today they came in, and after months of stalking buttercup online, R slipped the ring on V’s finger. All agree it’s even better than the picture, and so worth the wait. You will notice that buttercup is finally marked “sold” in our featured section.
Just a heads up that there are pictures of some gorgeous new arrivals up on our facebook page. Friend us and get the first peeks at some of our favorites!
Our “featured” section has been getting plenty of attention lately, and we are hearing from lots of you that you want even more. SO, we are really working on getting lots more pretty stuff photographed, written up and posted. In the coming days keep an eye out for new listings of a slew of pretty vintage rings in the under $1000 range, as well as some newly arrived (and truly stunning) Victorian diamond earrings.
Better yet, come downtown for a visit. You can see everything, try things on, and even visit with our saucy mascot Ned! Hours are 10 to 5:30 during the week, 11 to 5 saturdays. We are closed on Sundays, but will have expanded hours come December. Come play!
Well, the holidays are coming up, and lots of people are eyeing the lovelies in our cases and asking the perennial question …”do you do layaway?” And the answer is, yes.
In order to insure that the special person on your list finds something truly fabulous in the box, we offer the simplest layaway policy we could think of. It works like this-
1) Once you find “the” piece, you put a deposit down on it. We prefer 33%, but we can sometimes be flexible if needed.
2) Our terms could not be easier. We do not charge any interest or extra layaway fees. You simply make payments on your item at your convenience. You can come into the shop and make payments, or authorize a weekly or monthly credit card payment, or you can send checks in the mail, whatever works for you best. We do ask that the item be paid in full within about 3 months.
3) When the item is paid for in full, you get to take it home. Ring purchases include one complimentary sizing, and items over $1000 include a complimentary appraisal for your insurance company… just request one!
We hear that our layaway policy has helped many folks stay on budget while still getting maximum wow factor out of the holiday, and the time to get started is now. Come visit
Hey, have you clicked on our “Featured” area recently? Lots of pretty new items pictured
Thirty years ago RM found MM, and knew she was “the one”. He popped the question, and then popped a second question… did she want a ring, or did it feel more important to put that money towards a downpayment on a house? The lure of homeownership was great, and MM put aside her desire for sparkly things and went for lathe and plaster (and a simple band) instead. Now, for their 30th anniversary, RM and is celebrating by finally rewarding MM’s delayed gratification. Together they have picked out a beautiful natural, unheated, cornflower blue sapphire for a splendid celebratory ring. Sapphire was the original engagement stone, by the way… it’s where the expression “true blue” comes from. Indeed! Happy anniversary to MR and MM from everyone here at Maloy’s, we wish you many more joyous years together!
